Montessori
Prepared environments and real, purposeful work. Children choose, repeat, and master activities at their own pace, building independence one small success at a time.
Coming Soon · Curtis Park, Sacramento
Curtis Park Montessori School is a new school being prepared for children from 4 months through pre-kindergarten, bringing together Montessori, RIE, and Positive Discipline. Join our interest list to hear our news as we get closer to opening.
Our approach
We believe children are capable, curious, and worthy of respect from the very beginning of life. Our program draws on three approaches that share that belief, and it shows up in everyday things: the materials we choose, the words we use, and the pace we keep.

Resources for Infant Educarers
Respectful, unhurried care for our youngest children. We slow down, observe, and talk with infants rather than at them, trusting their competence from the start.
Connection before correction. Clear, kind boundaries help children feel safe, know they belong, and learn to solve problems alongside the adults who care for them.
Our programs
When we open, five classrooms will each be prepared for the age they serve, with a separate outdoor yard for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Watch us grow
We are preparing every space with care, from the classrooms to the outdoor yards. Here is a look at the work so far.
Our story
Curtis Park Montessori began with a vision of a school community where children, parents, and teachers could all feel known, valued, and supported.
For founder and director Aimee Gandy, bringing that vision to life has meant thoughtfully considering every part of the experience, from the classroom environment and educational approach to the relationships connecting children, families, and educators.
Aimee brings more than 20 years in early childhood classrooms as a teacher and director, along with Montessori certification, RIE training, and certification as a Positive Discipline Parent Educator.
I’m Aimee Gandy, founder and director of Curtis Park Montessori School.
I have spent more than 20 years in early childhood classrooms as a teacher and a director. I am Montessori certified, trained in RIE, and a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, and my work with young children began long before that, babysitting as a child and teenager.
This school began as a deeply personal vision: to create a place where children are treated with genuine respect, parents feel welcomed and supported, and teachers are valued as professionals and as people.
For years, I carried a vision of creating a school shaped by the values and practices I had come to care about most. I imagined warm, peaceful classrooms thoughtfully prepared for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers—places where children would be trusted in their abilities, supported as they developed independence, and given the time and space to grow into themselves.
I also imagined a school where parents would feel truly connected to their child’s experience. Raising young children can be both joyful and challenging, and families deserve a community where they can ask questions, share concerns, celebrate milestones, and know that the people caring for their children are genuine partners.
Just as importantly, I wanted to create a place where teachers could feel respected, supported, and proud of their work. The relationships teachers build with children and families are at the heart of a school. When educators are given opportunities to learn, grow, collaborate, and bring their full selves to their work, the entire community benefits.
That vision is now becoming real in the heart of Sacramento’s Curtis Park neighborhood.
Creating Curtis Park Montessori has required much more than constructing classrooms. Every detail—from the materials on the shelves and the design of the environment to the language teachers use and the way families are welcomed—is being considered with care.
I believe children, parents, and teachers all experience belonging through these everyday details: being greeted warmly, being listened to, feeling respected, and knowing that their presence matters.
Our approach brings together Montessori education, Positive Discipline, and the respectful caregiving principles of RIE. Together, these philosophies reflect what I believe most deeply: children deserve dignity, meaningful freedom within clear limits, authentic relationships, and adults who trust their natural drive to learn.
Curtis Park Montessori is the culmination of a long-held dream, but it is not a school I am creating alone. It is meant to become a genuine community—one shaped by the children, families, and educators who will learn, contribute, and grow together here.
We aren’t simply finishing a building. We’re creating a school community where children, parents, and teachers can all feel known, valued, and supported.

Kind words
When Aimee Gandy does anything she does it with her whole heart. She is the preschool teacher that my kids still talk about as they enter high school and college. She is the teacher that offers a parenting class and my husband and I sign up for, no questions asked. She is the friend you can always count on. She is the amazing and talented founder and director of Curtis Park Montessori School. We are so proud to watch her dreams come true.
When my family first met Aimee Gandy, she was an idealistic and promising advocate for Positive Discipline at McKinley Montessori School, one of the finest Montessori-style preschools in the region. My older son was already attending, and my younger son was just starting.
Today, my sons are 17 and 14, and Aimee remains an influence in our lives. So much of what I learned from her back then has become a mantra in our home. Over the years, she has continued to teach me how to be a parent whose children will look back on their formative years with respect and happiness.
Aimee cares deeply, and I could not recommend her more highly as a caregiver for your children, or her beautiful new school as a place for them to grow and thrive.
Aimee Gandy has a unique ability to meet children where they are at and then help them to grow. She brings her intuitive understanding of childhood to her work while guiding children with kindness to become the best version of themselves.
